ABOUT OUR COLLECTION
Organization of the Collection
Library of Congress Classification Scheme is being use in the organization of the collection. The library adopts the open shelves system wherein students have an access to the collection and free to scan the books on the shelves.
NEWLY ACQUIRED REFERENCES
CIRCULATION AND RESERVE
Circulation Books
Circulation books are books supporting the curricular offering of the university. All subject fields are covered by the collection. These books are arranged in the stack area according to the Dewey Decimal Classification Scheme. Five (5) books can be borrowed for three days and can be renewed for another three days unless needed or reserved by other users.
Reserve Books
Reserve books are required and collateral readings for a particular subject. One (1) reserve book can be borrowed for one period and can be renewed for another period if not needed or reserved by other users.
REFERENCE
The Reference Unit has a vast collection composed of the standard reference books such as:
Dictionaries- give information about words, spelling, pronunciation, derivation, usage, meanings, syllabication current status, synonyms, antonyms, historical information, etc.
Encyclopedias- provide background information in all field of knowledge.
Geographical Sources- are described as tools that provide information about geography, like the atlases, maps, gazetteers, and guide books.
Vertical file consists of pamphlets and maps, these materials came from different sources as complimentary sources.
These important materials are strictly for “room use only” but can be photocopied upon the approval of the Librarian-in-Charge.
FILIPINIANA
The Filipiniana collection includes publications about the Philippines, in all its aspects – cultural, political, social, religious, and economic and others, regardless of author and imprint.
The book collection covers an adequate range of reading materials designed to meet the instructional and research needs of users.
Various types of Filipiniana materials are available, they are the following:
Filipiniana collection
Filipiniana Reference Collection – is composed of the standard reference books such as encyclopedias, dictionaries, almanacs, yearbooks, manuals, handbooks, maps, and indexes.
Rizaliana Collection – these include all works of Jose Rizal as well as works written about his life and writings.
Filipiniana/Biography- Books about Filipino biography
Filipiniana for Circulation – Filipiniana books which are duplicates that can be borrowed for home use.
PERIODICALS
The Periodicals Section provides recent issues of general and professional periodical literature in local and international publication. Current issues of local newspapers and local magazines are available. Subscriptions to foreign journals were lessened due to availability of E-journals. Bound periodicals are arranged alphabetically by title on the shelves. Back issues are also arranged alphabetically by title and are organized at the back issue stacks area. Current issues are properly displayed on the display racks.
GRADUATE SCHOOL LIBRARY
The library consists of the following collections: theses and dissertations for the exclusive use of graduate school students>.
GSL circulation books are merged with the collection of the Circulation Section.
